“Fake News”, President Donald J. Trump said it all through his campaign and now in his Presidency. Popular news outlets and programs such as NBC, CBS, ABC, and CNN, have long been guilty of producing “Fake News, Fabricated News, and False News. Tom Brokaw knows what Fake News is and has commented on it as well. See link below; http://pagesix.com/2017/03/28/tom-brokaw-people-cant-believe-everything-they-read/
When news came to the American public byway of the 3 major networks, John and Jane Q. Public had little choices. The news of the day could be garnered from their local newspaper, radio or 3 stations TV. However, when the internet began to gain popularity and access to the general public, the Major News Outlets weren’t paying attention. As a result, they were caught flat footed and with their pants down.
Today, seekers of news can find it in a myriad of places and ways. There is the TV of coarse but, today there are computers of all sizes and types, (i) devices and cable and satellite networks. This makes it very difficult for the former kings of news and media to lie and not get caught as in the story and link below.
Journalist and talking heads alike have been forced to recant their stories and in some cases, forced into retirement or out of the business completely. Is this a shame? No, not unless you get caught and more and more are having to face the music for their misdeeds. But, what are their misdeeds? Simple, they want the news to say and mean what they want and not what the facts state.
Ordinary Americans are taking over and taking the place of the “on the scene” media paid reporter. In many instances, John and Jane Q. Public are the first on the scene and are recording it with their telephones. But then what?
By the time the event is broadcast on the nightly or evening news, it’s already on Youtube and, or a dozen other internet social outlets and websites. What does this do to dinosaur media? It leaves them behind. If they choose to lie or fabricate about a certain event, there are other sources to contradict their version.
It is becoming undeniable that “Fake News”, so clearly identified by President Trump is on its way into extinction. Viewers and readers alike have too many other avenues available to them for accurate and honest reporting.
Dinosaur media, a meteor is coming and it is public media, public reporting and more public awareness. Good luck with your fake news.
