In the year 1941, President Franklin D. Roosevelt declared the date for Thanksgiving; however, it was President Abraham Lincoln who called for Thanksgiving to be a holiday in 1863. The special day had been celebrated to some extent, but until that date it was not classified as a holiday. Those who enjoy reading history most likely realizes that Abraham Lincoln was a man who loved his country, believed all men were created equally, and was a Christian man.
Obama, when taking the presidential oath after being elected to office the first time; he requested the use of Lincoln’s Bible. Perhaps Obama had the naïve notion that he was Lincoln incognito. His attempt at portraying any facsimiles to Lincoln has immensely failed. The greatest aspect of Lincoln was his devotion to God Almighty. A devotion that lacks in Obama; he made it quite obvious when he neglected to use “One Nation under God” in his resent rendition of Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address.
Obama’s Thanksgiving speech to the Nation did in fact mention God but secondary to homosexuality; giving the unscrupulous right to love whomever they chose. “Let us forge deeper connections with our loved ones,” he exhorts. “Let us extend our gratitude and our compassion. And let us lift each other up and recognize, in the oldest spirit of this tradition, that we rise or fall as one nation, under God.”

Due to Obamacare, loss of insurance policies, shortage of employment, higher taxes and the shadows of Benghazi, IRS, Fast and Furious (to name a few scandals), it is difficult to count blessings this Thanksgiving season.
Regardless of situations there is always room for thankfulness. America is still a free country, and living in beyond the borders of this great nation is in itself a thanksgiving. Be thankful for those who will not be with family and friends due to their deployment in harm’s way; the protector of freedom, the American Military. Be thankful for good health; there are many who are not fortunate enough to claim good health. Be thankful for employment regardless of the place or employment status. Be thankful for living quarters regardless of what type of quarters it may be; there are those who will not feel warmth and love of home this Thanksgiving.
Be thankful God is in control. Though there are times it seems He is absent; He is always there.
Claim blessings this Thanksgiving. Proclaim victory over situations which may inflect injuries upon individuals or the country in whole. This day of thanksgiving regardless of governmental interference this country remains free and will forever be, One Nation under God.
