When there is work to be done, these “unregistered” party members are usually no place to be found, and if they do show up, they immediately assume the supervisory role. This role is most often exercised at a safe distance from the work being performed. They prefer the shaded, more comfortable locations. Does this mean they are lazy? Well, generally speaking, yes.
But, don't let their lacking work ethic be confused with their appetite, they surely like to eat. The mention of food, or eating instantly garners their attention. Food and eating is a benefit. Benefits do rank very high on their priority list, but as I said earlier, earning those benefits, does not. When it comes to planning for the next meal, they are very short sighted.
The current meal filling their mouths is what fills their minds. Little thought is given to tomorrow or the next day. It is the here and now that counts. When the meal is done, it's nap time and they have very little trouble leaving concern for the next meal up to me. However, should one or both catch me eating a sandwich, or burger, or cookie, without sharing with them, I get the starving death stare until I relent and share. As of yet, they have not offered me any of their food.
If I need to run an errand or do anything away from them, I am strongly condemned the entire time I am gone. This I am not suppose to know, but I have been told. Yet, upon my return, I am welcomed as though I have been gone for days. This could be called, back biting.
It is my guess these are a few of the reasons some people would like to have the life of their dogs and other pets. They have a warm place to live, plenty of food to eat, and can complain about anything at a moments notice. I'm sorry but, this sound like the majority of President Obama's supporters but my dogs would not vote for him, too much competition for the freebies. I'm just saying.
